The polar bears are suffering a great decline in numbers, it is a shame that this little one never survived to adulthood... Or maybe he did? Who knows, it's just a picture. Yes, its sad, but this is what happens in nature. It will be hapening even more so as polar bear's enviorment declines and more males will be forced into contact with mothers and their babies, and as their food supply dwindles. And as Vor says, it captures the mother's gentleness and also her helplessness. So all in all this picture is great in athestic appeal and sends a message that we all need to heed.

If no one put up pictures like this, would we know animals were hurting? If we just thought all the polar bears were alive and well, then we would just live our simple humans lives. We need to see more pictures like this in our daily lives so that we can do something to help these poor animals. We are trying to shield ourselves from the truth because we want our lives to be perfect. We need to stop being so ignorant of the truth. Instead, open your eyes to the truth and make a change. Donate money to a conservation group or make choices to help educate others around you, such as seeing pictures like this one.

Yes, I am 19 years old, and I bet 60% of whoever complained about this picture is over the age of twenty-two. This picture is sad, yes, and Im about to tear up, but do you wish to stay in ignorance the rest of your lives? Im the kind of person who cries if they see roadkill, and yet what happened with the poor unfortunate cub is just nature running its course. For all you know, that polar bear died just as two twin foals were saved from a puma, or as a hatchling just took its first breath. As wonderful as nature it, it is also cruel. The most likely cause of this photo, given the amount of blood on the cub and surrounding snow is that it was killed by a competing male bear.
